Camberwell Kindergarten & Childcare Centre (CKCC) is a community managed and government supported, not-for-profit organisation. Staff and parents are involved in planning and implementing policies to provide quality childcare. Families are encouraged to share their culture, language and home experiences with the centre. Our emphasis is on creating a partnership with families and the greater community. We promote the importance of communication with families and the development of the partnership with parents, the children and the staff. Throughout the year we run social events and call on contribution from families for working bees and in-room participation.
At CKCC we focus on each child’s strengths and abilities at the present time (being), how they respond to others and the natural world around them (belonging), and what they have the potential to achieve (becoming). We provide a culturally diverse program that reflects both induvial and group needs. We promote values of empathy, compassion, and fairness. Our belief is that this approach assists our children in being better able to understand and embrace differences in others.
At CKCC we in incorporate the guiding principles of the National Quality Framework. The Framework entails the Education and Care Services National Law, Education and Care Services National Regulations, National Quality Standard and the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF). The National and Victorian EYLF support educators in enhancing young children’s learning and development through the early years by building on their interests and knowledge as well as that of the wider community. The framework contains principles, practices and learning outcomes which assist in fostering the development of the whole child.
